Dear Valued students,
At Alkunoozalarabiya, my teaching philosophy is centered around the belief that the most effective way to learn is through a student-centered approach. As a teacher, my role is to act as a facilitator, guiding and supporting you in your journey of Arabic language and culture learning.
I strongly believe that students need to be equal partners in the learning process alongside their teacher. This means that I will always listen to your needs, interests, and concerns, and work with you to create a learning experience that is tailored to your individual goals and learning style.
One of the most important skills that I strive to help my students develop is their ability to formulate their own critical voice. Through our lessons and interactions, I encourage you to ask questions, analyze information, and express your thoughts and opinions in a constructive and thoughtful manner.
I firmly believe that language learning is not just about memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules, but rather it is about gaining a deep understanding of the culture and people behind the language. That's why I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment where all students can explore and appreciate the rich history, traditions, and values of Arabic culture.
As your Arabic language tutor, my goal is to inspire and motivate you to become confident, independent learners who are able to use their critical thinking skills and creative expression to communicate effectively in Arabic.
Thank you for choosing Alkunoozalarabiya as your partner in your Arabic language and culture learning journey. I am honored to be your tutor and look forward to helping you achieve your goals.
Best regards,
Sarkawt A. Sabir
Dear Valued students,
At Alkunoozalarabiya, I believe that grading should be a fair and accurate representation of a student's learning progress. Therefore, my personal grading philosophy focuses on providing students with multiple opportunities to demonstrate their learning through formative assessment, while also placing a significant emphasis on attendance, participation, and classwork.
Formative assessment is an essential aspect of my grading philosophy as it provides ongoing feedback to students and supports their learning progress. Rather than relying solely on summative assessments at the end of a unit or course, I believe that formative assessments should be graded and count towards a student's final grade. This approach ensures that students receive feedback throughout the learning process and can make adjustments to their learning strategies to improve their understanding of the material.
In addition to formative assessment, attendance, participation, and classwork are also critical components of my grading philosophy. I believe that showing up to class and being an active participant in the learning process is just as important as understanding the material. Therefore, I place a majority of the grade on attendance, participation, and classwork, which encourages students to engage in class discussions, ask questions, and collaborate with their peers. Lastly, while summative assessment is not the main focus of my grading philosophy, it still plays a role in determining a student's final grade. I believe that summative assessment should count for approximately 30% of a student's final grade, as it provides a snapshot of a student's understanding of the material at a specific point in time. However, it is important to note that summative assessment is not the sole determinant of a student's grade, and that formative assessment, attendance, participation, and classwork are all crucial factors in determining a student's overall understanding of the material.
My personal grading philosophy is centered around providing students with multiple opportunities to demonstrate their learning progress through formative assessment, while also placing a significant emphasis on attendance, participation, and classwork. By taking this approach, I believe that students are more likely to engage in the learning process and develop a deeper understanding of the material.
